Every story of a child going to bed without eating, of pregnant mothers suffering from malnutrition, and of families overwhelmed by despair resonated in the hearts of Víctor and Tamara Bernal, who in 2012 launched a social project through their company, Well Control Logging B&B C.A., in Venezuela.

For eight years, during the most acute economic and social crisis in the South American country, they worked hard to comprehensively address the needs of children, adolescents, vulnerable families, and indigenous communities.

When they moved to the US, they decided that this work must continue. “In the midst of the pandemic, we decided to send aid to Venezuela. We didn’t have the resources to do so, but we did have a burning desire to help. We began to solicit donations and obtained some boxes of canned food and personal hygiene products. We didn’t think it would have a big impact, but when we heard the beneficiaries say that the Lord had heard their prayers, it motivated us to continue with even greater determination. Without a doubt, we were and continue to be the most surprised,” says Victor Bernal.

Five years later, Fundación Oasis Internacional, as a non-profit organization, remains dedicated to providing comprehensive services to the most vulnerable communities in Latin America. It has nine areas of action and impacts more than 7,000 low-income families, thanks to contributions from individual donors, institutions, companies, and an extraordinary team of professionals and volunteers based in the United States (strategic headquarters) and Venezuela (operational team in Maracaibo, Zulia), who plan, manage, and execute each day’s activities, ensuring that resources are administered efficiently to maximize the impact of each donation received.
